Panic! at the Disco canceled its headline X-Fest appearance in downtown Modesto today hours before the show due to a family illness.
Event promoter Chris Ricci said he received a call from the band in the early afternoon informing him they had to cancel their concert. He said the father of the group’s drummer, Spencer Smith, has a degenerative condition which has taken a turn for the worse. So Smith wanted to be with his family.
“He wanted to spend his last couple days with him, and I am totally supportive of that,” Ricci said.

Panic! at the Disco lead singer Brendon Urie confirmed his group’s cancelation via his Twitter feed writing, “Modesto: we had to cancel the show due to an emergency family situation. Thank you for your understanding and we will keep you updated.”
Ricci said the group’s performance will be rescheduled to a later date. All X-Fest ticketholders will be able to attend the rescheduled show, free of charge. No refunds are being given out today for X-Fest because of the cancelation.
All the other about 70 bands, performers and DJs scheduled will be playing as planned, Ricci said Saturday afternoon.
